Soccer fan has unforgettable night in Downtown Fresno
For one Chivas super fan, this was a special night.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A sellout crowd enjoyed the Chivas vs. Club Atlas soccer match at Chukchansi Park on Friday night. It was a rare sight at the Chuk.

But it was nothing surprising for the soccer fans. They came from all over the state to watch the two top soccer teams from Guadalajara, Mexico, play in Downtown Fresno.

"It's the first time that they ever play outside of Mexico, so it's just a privilege to see the top two teams from the city of Guadalajara come to Fresno and duke it out," said Angel Noriega, a Chivas fan.

It was a thrilling match, ultimately ending tied 0-0. But for one Chivas super fan, it was a special night. Maricruz Hermosillo, 17, suffers from an adrenal disorder. She dreamed of meeting Chivas players her whole life. And that dream is now realized thanks to the team and the Fresno Fuego, who set up a special meet and greet.

"I was happy. I was excited," said Maricruz Hermosillo.

"She told me she was counting down the days since I bought the tickets," said Haida Hermosillo, Maricruz's mother.

It was an historic soccer match, with no winning team. But it was a major win for Fresno, as around 15,000 people packed Chukchansi Park.

Nothing official yet, but this game is a major draw and major moneymaker for Downtown Fresno. As for the Hermosillo family, it's a night they will never forget, thanks to Mari's favorite team.
