TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The city of Terra Bella is bracing for a potentially dangerous fire season and now firefighters are concerned there's not enough water in the community to fight off a fire.

Terra Bella suffered the freeze, then the drought and zero water allocation. Conditions in the area are extremely dry and firefighters say they've been notified by the local irrigation district that there isn't enough water to sustain an adequate flow to put out a fire.

Tulare County firefighters say if a fire breaks out in Terra Bella, they would need to bring in water from nearby cities.

Jonathon Kutka with the Tulare County Fire Department said, "The area is really dry most of the state is pretty dry just because of the high temperatures, low humidity. Everything is drying out."

Terra Bella citrus grower German Arias said, "We start to clean everything around our houses and everything so if there's a fire it won't go to our house."

Growers are now able to buy some water at a lower cost to try and save their crops. But some growers say there isn't much to save at this point.
