A car accident on Monday night damaged a water line, causing a disruption to the school's water supply.
Class was canceled for students at one Fresno County School. West Park Elementary has been closed since Tuesday because they have no water. Officials say they lost water pressure and had to send the 385 students and 40 employees home.
"So since we can't feed students and we can't accommodate them through the use of the restrooms or we don't have any drinking water available at this time," said Ralph Vigil, Superintendent, West Park Elementary School District.
The lack of water is the result of an accident that happened on Monday evening at Valentine Avenue and North avenue. Police say the driver of a blue Honda ran a stop sign and was broadside by a Mercedes before damaging the water line.
The woman driving the Honda died in that crash.
Crews have been on site at the school making emergency repairs and hope to have the school back open by Thursday.
