The teenager reportedly approached an 84-year-old man carrying groceries on the 1600 block of 4th street on Wednesday.
Police say the teen told the marine, "old man, give me your wallet or I'll cut you."
The man responded, warning the boy he was a former marine who fought in three wars and to keep his distance. When the boy stepped closer, the veteran kicked him in the groin and left the teen on the ground, picked up his groceries and walked home.
