Deputy shoots suspect on 105 Freeway

LOS ANGELES Paramedics were sent to the 105 Freeway a half mile west of Vermont Avenue about 8 a.m. on a report of a shooting, said Inspector Darryl Jacobs of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

A man in his 20s was shot and wounded, and paramedics took him to a hospital in stable condition, Jacobs said.

The shooting in an unincorporated county area apparently involved an off-duty sheriff's deputy, Jacobs said. It was unclear which law enforcement agency the deputy was affiliated with.

The eastbound freeway was closed at Crenshaw Boulevard about 8:35 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
