The purchase of Longs will expand the presence of CVS here in California and the Valley.
Longs Drugs operates 30 stores here in the valley. That's in addition to 500 other stores around the West Coast.
For comparison, CVS operates more than 6,000 stores. Expect the Longs Drugs name to disappear from stores sometime next year.
