Fuel Spill on the Mississippi River

29-miles of the Mississippi River is closed down Wednesday in-and-around New Orleans. A tugboat with a barge and a 600-foot tanker crashed early Wednesday morning. The Coast Guard said the barge split in half, sending diesel into the water.

Right now there are estimates 419,000 gallons of fuel might have spilled into the river.

The agency is checking for pollution since the fresh water intake for New Orleans' west bank is near the crash site.
