The Tulare Union High School Agriculture Teacher is being remembered by family, friends and students as a man who shared his passion with generations of young people.

The exact details of Max Corbett's death are not yet known but students said they'll miss the teacher who became part of their families.

It's a somber day at Tulare Union High School and around the south Valley city that's been touched by Max Corbett.

The agriculture teacher died after being attacked by a bull at the school's farm. Students said he was such a fixture in their lives on and off campus, that they simply called him Max.

"He was really cool, he was really laid back he was real down to earth. He helped everybody. He was just a really nice, generous man," said student Brent Denney.

Corbett was a teacher for over 31 years and was the chairman of the Ag department at Tulare Union High School. On the last day of the Tulare County Fair, dairy and Ag students set up a memorial to Corbett who was at the heart of the yearly Future Farmers of America Program at the high school.

"Mr. Corbett taught some of these grandparents, some of these parents. Mr. Corbett was teaching some of their kids. You can't express it in words what he meant to the community," said Assistant Superintendent Alfonso Gamino.

But it was Corbett's way with people that many families will remember the most.

The coroner has not yet released a specific cause of death. Students are now planning a memorial to Max Corbett.
