Valley Firefighters Head to So Cal

10/21/2008 Fresno, CA, USA A strike team of five fire engines is on its way to southern California, where Santa Ana winds are expected to come in the next couple of days.

The crew left Tuesday morning. Also crews from Madera and Mariposa will be taking off sometime today as a precaution.

There aren't any fires going right now but the crews are hoping they'll be able to keep the damage to a minimum if a fire sparks.

Earlier this month, Cal Fire crews were ordered to be sent out to assist with the Sesnon fire that damaged thousands of acres and killed at least one person. A couple dozen firefighters from those crews will remain in southern California ahead of the Santa Ana winds.
