Ashley Swearingen's 100th Day in Office

April 16, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearingen will mark her one hundredth day in office Thursday by issuing a progress report to the city. Wednesday, the mayor met with her community advisory panel at city hall. Swearengin said creating the group was one of her top priorities after taking office.

The mayor claims her administration has made many accomplishments in her first 100 days. They include the creation of an Independent Police Auditor to check the work of Fresno Police officers. Swearengin said she always supported creating the position, and it wasn't a quick response to questionable incidents involving the police department.

Swearengin is still working with Chief Jerry Dyer on a plan to improve tracking of sex offenders in the city.
