Fresno is now the 5th Largest City in California

Fresno, CA The state estimated Fresno's population increased by 10,000 last year, just enough to inch out Long Beach. The rest of the top five remains unchanged, with Los Angeles on top as the state's largest city.

Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin said she's not surprised Fresno has broken into the top five. She attributes Fresno's population increase mostly to internal growth and not because more people are moving into the area.
