Clovis Super Wal-Mart Decision Delayed

May 19, 2009 12:23:53 PM PDT
The Clovis City Council says it needs more time to decide whether to allow a Super-Wal-Mart to be built in the area.More than one- hundred people showed up to a meeting last night to voice their opinions on the project that was first introduced six years ago.

Since then, Clovis officials have approved the project twice. Both times, it's gone back to the drawing table because a judge ruled the environmental impact report did not consider the site's water supply or how the store would affect area businesses.

A revised report found that there is an adequate water supply, but that the Super Wal-Mart would take away about 33 million dollars from nearby businesses.
