September 15, 2009 12:00:00 AM PDT
Highway 99 closed late Monday night after a big rig overturned on the freeway. The big rig was carrying a load of cows when it overturned on Highway 99 and Highway 198, blocking both lanes.

The C.H.P. said the driver took the Highway 99 onramp too fast and lost control. He sideswiped another big rig on 99, before overturning.

The drivers of both big rigs were not injured. A couple of cows died in the crash.

A cattle truck was brought in to haul away the surviving cattle, and the big rig was towed away.

Clean-up crews cleared the road of debris and Highway 99 re-opened at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
