The jury found Donna Neely not guilty of gross vehicular manslaughter. They deliberated less than half a day before reaching their decision.
Neely hugged her attorney and sobbed as the clerk read the jury's decision. Neely was accused of driving drunk last year and crashing into a car driven by Chou Thao Her ... Her died. She was a mother of 11 children who were not in the car.
The defense told jurors, Neely took the prescription sleep aide ambien and Neely was sleep driving. The jury acquitted Neely of injuring two others. The jury did find Neely guilty of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol.
The victim's family left the court house very upset with the jury's decision ... calling it an injustice.
Neely is scheduled to be sentenced October 15.
