Thousands of breast cancer survivors and supporters rallied to help find a cure

FRESNO, Calif. Fresno state hosted the Central Valley's leg of the Susan G. Komen race for the cure.

It's the 11th year for the event, which helps fund research to fight breast cancer.

6,600 racers of all ages took part in a 5k run or walk, an increase in participants from last year.

One of the 500 breast cancer survivors there today, said the annual event helps do much more than just raise money.

Eva Bridges, breast cancer survivor said: "Helps remember fewer deaths, more survivors."

$372,000 dollars were raised Saturday, with pledges still coming in.

75% of funds raised Saturday stay in Fresno County, to support local education, breast cancer screenings, and treatment programs.
