Let the burger wars begin!

FRESNO, Calif.

With names like the Fresno Fig Burger and the Cowboy Burger, these signature dishes at "Eureka! Burger" are creating a lot of burger buzz.

Monday night the new dining destination opened its doors in Northwest Fresno. Owners said they were attracted to the Palm and Nees location because of the affordable rent.

"You do have a lot of vacancies. . . Get good lease rates," said Robert Suzuki with Eureka! Burger.

With the economic downturn comes another trend: demand for lower priced, quality food. And Eureka says it delivers with burgers priced between eight to 10 dollars

That kind of demand for affordable all-American food has inspired a burger boom.

Down the street at Fig Garden Village, the Habit Burger Grill has been open since February. Besides burgers, the menu has beach-inspired fare, like fish sandwiches.

On Wednesday, "5 Guys Burgers and Fries" opens at River Park.

Five Guys River Park is in the old Johnny Rockets location across from the movie theater.

They will open Wednesday at 10 a.m. They've hired 50 people for the location and company officials say there are plans to open more in the area.
