The San Mateo County coroner's office said Tuesday it was notified of 58-year-old James Emil Franco's death Monday morning.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death.
The Sept. 9 explosion of a Pacific Gas & Electric pipe destroyed 37 homes in San Bruno and injured dozens. Franco lived down the block from the source of the blast.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what caused the gas line to rupture.
