Hmong New Year celebration at Fresno Fairgrounds

FRESNO, Calif.

The leader of the Hmong community, General Vang Pao, spoke during the opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. at the fairgrounds in southeast Fresno.

The festivities also include performances by traditional dancers and singers.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the first Hmong people to arrive in the United States, and this year's celebration is dedicated to that historic event.

Admission is $3, but seniors and kids under five get in free.
