Train hits car in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Maroa and Princeton in the Old Fig Garden neighborhood.

Fresno police say the 19-year-old driver made a wrong turn onto the tracks, and her compact car got stuck.

Two passengers tried to push the car off the tracks, but when the train got too close they got out of the way.

The teen driver was still inside when the Amtrak train crashed into the back half of car.

The impact caused the car to skid down a 20 foot embankment, but police say surprisingly the driver was not seriously hurt.
