Oakland mayor reacts to possible recall petition

OAKLAND, Calif.

According to a report by the Oakland Tribune, a signature from Clerk LaTonda Simmons is all that is needed for a petition to begin circulating that would push for the recall of Quan as mayor.

When asked for comment about the petition, Quan told the Tribune, "It's so unfair."

"I'm the first Asian-American mayor of a major American city," Quan was quoted as saying in the Tribune, adding that her recall would not come without a fight.

More than 19,000 signatures would be needed on the petition in order for the recall to qualify for the November 2012 ballot.
