The historic preservation district committee honored the owner of the Togni building located on Main and Court in Visalia with a special plaque.

Valley developer Harvey May spent millions of dollars to turn the 105-year-old building into a modern day business complex.

The committee is looking to honor other buildings in the near future.

"We like to recognize older homes or businesses that have a history of some significance," said Virginia Strawser. "Whether it's the architecture itself having been preserved or that maybe someone famous lived there."

The Togni building is the second place to receive this honor.
