Veteran anchor /*Kyle Dyer*/ was petting the 85-pound Argentine Mastiff Wednesday during an interview with the owner and a fire fighter.

A day earlier, firefighters rescued the dog named Maximus -- when he fell through the ice of a frozen reservoir while chasing a coyote.

The TV station covered the rescue extensively and followed up the next day with a live interview on the TV set.

While Dyer petted Maximus under his chin -- he bared his teeth and bit her in the face.

The anchor is said to be recovering after surgery.

The owner says his dog has no history of aggression.
