August 7, 2012 12:22:53 AM PDT
Neighborhood watch groups across America will be gathering in their communities Tuesday night to take a stand against crime.

The annual National Night Out is a time when neighbors show their support to local crime prevention programs and build neighborhood spirit.

Some neighborhood watch groups will be hosting bar-b-q's, potlucks, and ice cream parties.

Representatives from different law enforcement agencies will also attend National Night Out parties in their areas, as a way to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and community members.

Neighborhood watch events are planned across the Valley.

Police Chief Jerry Dyer will make appearances at several sites including:

4 pm Southeast District - Stoney Brook Apartments, located at Winery just north of Kings Canyon.

5 pm NE - Wesley Methodist Church, located at Barstow and Fourth St.

6 pm NW - Quigley Park, Dakota, between Fruit/West

7 pm SW- Frank H. Ball Playground, 760 Mayer, Ventura/A Street
