"Fig Fest" celebrates all things fig, and Saturday, dozens of food distributors and restaurants teamed up to showcase the fig offering samples and recipes with figs as an ingredient.
Right now, fig season is at its peak and organizers say they're hoping to introduce figs to those who may not have experienced all they have to offer.
"Historically consumers are familiar with figs through the fig newton and our objective is to liberate the fig from the fig newton so you can experience it as an ingredient in all those wonderful sweet and savory dishes, like fig pizza and proscuitto wrapped figs," Karla Stockli, CEO of the CA Fig Advisory Board said.
Organizers say the heat had them concerned but today's crowd was even larger than last year with about two thousand people attending.
