Fresno State cancels classes due to power outages

FRESNO, Calif.

The lights went out unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, affecting several buildings.

The Fresno State Police Department says most everyone was able to exit safely -- except for a few people stuck in elevators for at least 30 minutes.

ABC30 talked with a student who was studying in the Henry Madden Library at the time.

"I was studying with my friend and she let out a little huh a little gasp," said Francisco Alanis. "A little surprised. Yeah she was a little surprised. I wasn't. I was reading. Yeah, it was just total darkness."

Crews are still working to restore power to Fresno State. Most classes are expected to be in session Friday.
