Fresno police seek suspect after man stabbed in fight over dogs

FRESNO, Calif.

The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Gabriel Ambriz. He's wanted for assault with a deadly weapon.

The fight happened on Sunday evening at the Ranchwood Condos on Winery Avenue near Butler Avenue in Southeast Fresno. Officers say Ambriz and 44-year-old Adolfo Garcia were both walking their pit bulls in the complex, when the dogs got agitated and started pulling toward one another.

Officers say the men then exchanged angry words and Ambriz stabbed Garcia in the stomach with a large knife. The victim, who is a known gang member, is expected to survive.
