Local philanthropists honored in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Some Valley residents and businesses are being recognized for their philanthropic efforts.

The valley chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals held its annual Philanthropy Day Awards luncheon in downtown Fresno today.

Among this year's recipients was 16-year-old Grace Bernhardt. She was honored as the outstanding youth in philanthropy. Just two years ago Bernhardt began fundraising for mental health systems' Hacienda Campus-- a residence for women and their children making their way back into the community. Since then Bernhardt has helped raised more than $200,000, which the organization used to build a new children's playground.

Action New's anchor Warren Armstrong was the MC at Thursday's awards presentation.
