The robbery happened around 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Merle's Market.
The victim, identified as Rod Bame, is in stable condition.
Detectives found Tabarez within 30 minutes of the stabbing thanks to an anonymous call leading them to a shed down the road.
Tabarez is a parolee. Deputies say they also found crystal meth on him.
