Police were staking out a home in the area when the person they were waiting for returned home. They say he went inside, but when they contacted him, the suspect started firing. The officers fired back, hitting the suspect several times in his lower body. That person was taken to the hospital in unknown condition, but we're told none of the officers were injured. One neighbor said the gunshots sounded more like fireworks.

"We were sitting in the kitchen right next door and we heard the noise it sounded just like someone setting off fireworks, bam, bam, bam, just like the fourth of July, and it didn't sound like a large caliber gun, it sounded just like firecrackers," said Stephen Leonard.
