The Granada Apartments off Shaw and Villa the first stop for Clovis Police searching for drugs and drug dealers.
In this one complex, three apartments were searched. Five people arrested. With each person they contacted, Clovis Police made their message clear.
Those violating probation or parole were taken to jail. Some photographed and validated as gang members. Neighbors said they are pleased to see their apartment complexes cleaned up.
Benita McDonald a Clovis Resident said, "It makes everybody feel more comfortable, a lot safer because you don't know who's coming in and out. You don't know who's doing what, who's carrying what."
Clovis Police Chief Janet Davis said a two month investigation revealed a majority of those suspects arrested for drug dealing are recent transplants from other cities in the central valley. She said, "I don't know why they moved in here but we want to be clear to anybody who's thinking about engaging in criminal activity and moving into Southwest Clovis or any one of our communities, it's really not a good idea."
At least one man arrested ended up evicted from his apartment by the end of the day. Police say they are working with apartment managers to keep close tabs on suspicious activity.
Clovis police are still looking for two people and they'd like your help to find Steven McDonald also known as "mono". He is a known bulldog gang member. They also want to track down his girlfriend Cassandra Sanchez. Both are wanted for possession and sales of marijuana.
If you know where they are, please call Clovis Police at 559-324-2800.
