RICHMOND, CA The 20-year-old woman who survived was the passenger in the victim's car. She said two men in a full-sized red van shot at least 12 rounds at them while both vehicles were traveling east on the highway prior to Bayview Avenue just after 4 p.m., police Sgt. Bisa French said.

The 21-year-old victim who later died from the wounds drove through a fence and stopped on an adjacent road, French said.

They were both transported to a local hospital where the man died.

The woman told police she did not know the suspects or why they shot at them, French said. She is expected to survive.

The suspects were only described as two black men driving a full-sized, red van.

The eastbound side of the highway from Regatta Boulevard to Bayview Avenue was closed for about an hour, according to the California Highway Patrol.
