One of the cars ended up in the canal. The passenger was flown to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno and is listed in critical condition. The driver suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the prison van and an inmate suffered minor injuries, so did two people in another car.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
