Cash for Clunkers Ends Monday Night

Fresno, CA Since it started last month the program has been a hit. With early funding for the program running out so quickly, congress had to add another two billion dollars to keep it going.

But now, the government has decided to pull the plug for good on Monday night. While the Obama administration has declared the program a success, not all car dealers and customers agree.

Many dealerships have complained that the government has been slow in reimbursing them and have not been pleased with government delays.

Car dealer Mark Frost said "When everyone is in a car and we've been paid then it's a success."

Car dealer Bob Jeannotte said "Sorry to see it leave but there have really been a lot of problems in the program."

Government officials insist the money is on the way, but some car dealers quit "cash for clunkers" early to make sure all their paperwork is submitted before the clock runs out on Monday night.
