A Highway Patrol spokesperson said the cruiser was hit by a minivan when its driver began turning onto Cedar.
After the crash, the driver and his two passengers tried to run from the scene. But some nearby Fresno Police Officers responded and stopped the three men. The C.H.P. then took them into custody.
The minivan's driver was also cited for driving under the influence. The two C.H.P. officers in the cruiser had to be taken to Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno for observation.
They are expected to be okay.
