Investigators said a driver noticed a man lying on the ground near Tuolumne and Stevens just after midnight.
The driver immediately called 911.
When officers arrived, they gave the victim CPR, but he was still unresponsive.
An ambulance rushed him to Community Regional Medical Center in Downtown Fresno, where he died a short time later.
Officers spent the early morning hours combing the neighborhood for clues.
