UPDATE: The Fresno City Council approved the proposal Thursday morning. No word yet on when the county board of supervisors will look at the proposal.

The Fresno Police Department and Sheriff's Office is trying to combine its resources by creating a joint processing center at the satellite jail facility in Downtown Fresno.
Currently each department handles its own processing of sex offenders.
Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims and Police Chief Jerry Dyer are hoping both the City Council and Board of Supervisors will approve the move.
