The Clark County Coroner says the accident is still under investigation. But a family spokesman says Guinn had been on the roof making repairs and that his wife found him after the fall Thursday morning.
The 73-year-old republican was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Guinn grew up in Exeter and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Fresno State.
Guinn served as governor of Nevada from 1999 to 2007.
