Eric Tidrick was supposed to make his first court appearance on murder charges earlier this week, but he was in a psychiatric facility and did not make it to court.
Tidrick could face the death penalty because of a 1978 murder conviction, while he was a juvenile. Archives, court records, and family members reveal Tidrick was convicted of bludgeoning Larry Eugene Smith to death.
The possibility of the death penalty complicates the new court proceedings. Tidrick served three-years in juvenile hall for the 1978 conviction.
