17-year-old Nathan Dehaven was killed when the car he was riding in collided with another car Monday on Highway 198 near Exeter.

The California Highway patrol says Dehaven was riding in the back seat of a Jeep Wrangler when the 16-year-old driver swerved into the center divider and struck an oncoming BMW.

The jeep driver and another passenger were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The people in the BMW were not hurt.

Students and staff at Sequoia High School say Nathan Dehaven was wanted to work at a science camp for kids after he graduated.

Raquel Morgan said, "He's like I wanna go like I want to be a counselor I want them to remember me like I remember my counselor that's what the wanted to do, he wanted to be remembered and he'll be remembered."

Sequoia High School Principal, Yolanda Flores said, "Kind guy very much a positive kid who just enjoyed a joke and just your normal teenager."

Officers are waiting for the 16-year-old driver's condition to improve before talking to her about the crash.
