Fresno police release details of officer-involved shooting

FRESNO, Calif.

The robbery happened Tuesday on Cambridge and Calaveras in Central Fresno.

Police say 32-year-old Octavio Angulo was wearing a bulletproof vest as he pointed a handgun at an officer.

The officer shot him seven times.

His injuries are non life threatening.

Officers also arrested 25-year-old Rene Andres Bon and 31-year-old Juan Ramirez Diaz.

Officers say the men barged into the side door of this home and demanded money and jewelry.

A man, woman and three children were inside when it happened.

Action News has learned that one of the suspects punched the woman in the face and kicked her in the side during the attempted robbery.

Her husband was able to escape and call 911 from a nearby payphone.

One neighbor watched as the suspects tried to get away.

"The police man tried to catch him and one cut around the basketball hoop that they have there next door and you just heard 8, 9 shots - continuous," neighbor Kisha Gomez said.

Police say they found a handgun lying on the ground near the home and plastic zip-ties and a police scanner as well.
