The insect with the bacterial disease has been found in San Bernardino County.
Today the city council is holding a meeting to consider a request for 38-thousand dollars to battle the pesky pest.
Ag officials say the money would be used to buy chemicals to treat all the groves in the county.

California's strawberry production is already ahead of last year's numbers.
Ag officials say so far, volume is about twice what it was last year at this point.
Strawberry production is currently centered in Southern California until the weather gets warmer, and then production picks up farther north.
Peak volumes are typically reached from April through June.
