FPD lawsuit costs the city of Fresno $300,000

FRESNO, Calif.

Deputy police chiefs Sharon Shaffer and Robert Nevarez sued the city, claiming their boss, Chief Jerry Dyer created a hostile work environment.

They claimed Chief Dyer made negative remarks about racial minorities and women, and retaliated against them for complaining about it. The case was set for trial next month, but both sides agreed to settle.

In addition to the $200 thousand dollars to Shaffer and Nevarez the city will pay their lawyer, Warren Paboojian $100 thousand dollars.

Shaffer and Nevarez remain on the force. Both sides have agreed not to discuss the case.
