Family says loved one killed while out of town

FRESNO, Calif.

Ernesto Xe Acosta was shot and killed Sunday in San Francisco.

Police there found him lying on a street corner near Alamo Square.

Ernesto Acosta, or Xe as he was known to his family and friends, graduated from Clovis East High School in 2007. His family is planning his memorial service, and hoping police catch his killer.

"Never in my entire life would I have imagined something like this," said Xe's mother, Irma Braxton.

She is still trying to accept that she will never again see her 23-year-old son, Xe. She told Action News her loving and friendly son moved to San Francisco a few years ago.

Xe was gunned down on the corner of Webster and Hayes in San Francisco around 2 AM last Sunday. There were no witnesses, she says. As far as the family know police just found Xe bleeding on the sidewalk.

"To be gunned down like that, shot.... its just terrible," Braxton said. Since the murder on Sunday, Xe's friends created a memorial to him where he died. They posted flyers from the neighborhood saying 'The Haight loves Xe.'

"I just hope whoever has any information has a conscience and to come forward," said Nani Spach, Xe's twin sister.

Spach also lives in San Francisco, a city they both talked about moving to while they were growing up here in the valley.

"I just... I thought he would be in my life forever," Spach said. "He's my other half. I've shared every moment with him."

With few leads Braxton said San Francisco police will likely release more details about the killing in the days ahead, hoping the public can provide new clues.

"It's just difficult because he was only 23," Braxton said. "I'm never going to see him get married, to have children."

A candle light vigil will be held Saturday at the spot where Xe was killed. His memorial services will take place in Clovis on Monday and Tuesday.

The family is also hoping for help with funeral expenses since Xe's remains had to be brought back here to the valley.
