The accident happened on Chestnut Avenue near Balch Avenue just before 6 a.m.
Fresno police say 82-year-old Saeteurn Seng Cho -- who lived nearby -- walked out in front of the vehicle. The driver was unable to stop and struck Cho, according to officers. The victim died at the scene.
The driver stayed at the crash site and is not facing any charges.
Members of the Collision Reconstruction Unit are still investigating the accident.
