Hanford man accused of molesting minor, having child porn

VISALIA, Calif.

Visalia police officers quickly rushed to arrest Ryan Koelewyn, 34, as he left work in Hanford and walked to his car on Friday morning. Koelewyn said nothing to investigators during his arrest. He's in custody for lewd acts on a minor between the ages of 14 and 15, plus possession of child pornography.

Officers first began investigating the crimes back on April 7.

"Investigators arrived and they located the suspect's whereabouts. We found that he's now living in the city of Hanford. He's also currently employed in that city as well," said Sgt. Ozzie Dominguez with the Visalia Police Department.

After Koelewyn's arrest, officers served a search warrant at his home in Hanford. They seized several hard drives, computers, cellphones and a pile of CDs. The evidence will now be sent off to be forensically analyzed.

"Once that analysis is done, our detectives will get a hold of the folks that are taking care of that analysis and then determine whether or not we have additional counts, and whether or not we need to continue our investigation with potentially new victims," said Dominguez.

Detectives say Koelewyn is a computer engineer and has worked in IT in Visalia and Hanford.

Depending on the severity of the child pornography files found on his devices, police say it's possible he could face not just state but federal charges as well.
