FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Cabin Fire continues to challenge firefighters in the Golden Trout Wilderness area of the Sequoia National Forest. The fire has spread to nearly 7,000 acres.

Officials say during the past week, burning material rolled across perimeter lines to the south, igniting three small spot fires. But crews managed to put those out quickly. Many trails will remain closed until the threat is over.

Lightning sparked the fire on July 19. It's now 96 percent contained.
