Fresno man working for 50 years and counting
A 50 year career in any business is impressive but a Fresno man has long been driven to success.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 50 year career in any business is impressive but a Fresno man has long been driven to success.

78-year-old David Coquillette has sold cars to generations of families. The first one he sold in 1966 was a Ford station wagon but so many models and makes would follow.

Coquillette explained, "From the Pontiac to the Ferrari to the Cadillac to the Porsche to the Rolls Royce, Volkswagen, Fiat."

David came to Mercedes Benz of Fresno two decades ago. He said, "Actually came over here to retire 21 years ago but somehow that didn't work. I just kept working and working because I enjoy it so much."

His work ethic has amazed dealership owner Scott Biehl.

Biehl said, "50 years in anything is a long time. 50 years in the retail business of nights and weekends and disruptions and whatnot is a huge commitment and that just really shows his commitment to his customers and his people."

David sold cars in the 60's for $2,000 which might cover sales tax on some models today. Coquillette never dreamed cars would come with so much technology. "All the telephone technology that comes with it. The streaming, the internet, the connection to your stockbroker."

His title is the Senior Master Lease and Sales Specialist.

Biehl said, "We give him obviously a lot of latitude as far as when he works and hours and stuff but we works harder than any schedule I could give him."

David Coquillette said his career has been a nice ride. "I don't want to stop. I enjoy what I'm doing. I enjoy getting up every morning and going to work."
