CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two suspects are still on the loose tonight, hours after robbing a Clovis home and shooting one person inside.
Clovis Police still don't know why the suspects chose the home, and neighbors are wondering the same. Police say the two robbery suspects walked in through an unlocked door at the house, with several people inside.
A local security company says it's times like these when homeowners should seriously consider installing or updating their security system.
Royal Security agent Troy Jacques doesn't disguise why he's at your door.
"What we're doing is we're out here because of the unfortunate home invasion that happened right here down the street," Jacques told one homeowner who lives near the site of the home invasion.
He heard about the home invasion robbery on Robinwood Avenue through Facebook. A young man inside the house was shot in the leg, but was back home by evening, sore but recovering. Feeling for that family, but seeing an opportunity, Jacques went to work in the quiet Clovis neighborhood still reeling from the shocking news-offering free whole home security installation.
"We want to help those people who are scared, who are worried now, bring back that peace of mind, cause this is your home, this is your sanctuary, and when someone comes out and destroys that, you have no comfortable place to be," Jacques said.
Some knocks went unanswered. Others said they already had a security system, and some said Jacques could circle back soon.
In the meantime, Clovis Police are releasing few details about the case, including descriptions of the two suspects. Clovis High School was briefly locked down Wednesday morning. Senior Madison Butz lives blocks away from the home that was hit.
"I wanted to know if the people were inside were OK, and if maybe the person who was doing the shooting, was going to come on campus and more people were going to get hurt," Butz said.
"(It's) scary, I mean I've lived here and it's always been a really peaceful street, no one bothers anyone here, the only people who drive by here are over at Clovis High," said Noelle Weil, a neighbor.
Crazy is what everyone is calling it, and security is what's on everyone's minds moving forward.
"I'm not going to be leaving anything unlocked for a while, since he was so close and it could happen to anyone," Weil said.
