Yosemite's Half Dome Village ice rink opens for the season

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK (KFSN) -- Get ready to put your ice skates on, Yosemite National Park officials say they will open the Half Dome Village ice rink this weekend.

The rink will be open from December 16th to March 4th, conditions permitting. Half Dome Village Ice Rink is located in the heart of Yosemite Valley which officials say offers spectacular views of Half Dome.

Not a fan of ice skating? You can enjoy roasting marshmallows at the fire pit nearby while your friends family skate.

Officials said people have been ice skating at Yosemite since 1928.

The Half Dome Village Ice Rink will offer free ice skating and skate rental to the 90th person to register for ice skating each day this season to celebrate the 90th anniversary of ice skating in the park.

Visitors can purchase ice skating tickets at the Half Dome Village Tour & Activity Kiosk adjacent to the Front Office.

Weekdays

12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Weekends

9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$10.00 per adult

$9.50 per child ages 12 and under

Helmets are available at no additional cost.
