FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Wienerschnitzels in the Fresno area are offering up an alternative to their usual hot dogs and corn dogs.

Erica Brandon, a team member, said they have been doing this for a few years now.

She mentioned they want to make sure people who take part in Lent can still enjoy their restaurant.

Lent is a time where many Christians fast or give up certain things such as meat. So to cater to those who take part in Lent Wienerschnitzel has put Fish'N Chips on their menu.

Fish'N Chips meal comes with panko crusted Alaskan-pollock as well as a side of fries.

"What we are doing is we have a small portion and a large. For the small it's two fish fillets with an order of fries and for the large, it's four fish fillets and a larger portion of fries and each order comes with tartar sauce," she explained.

Brandon added while they only sell the Fish'N Chips for a couple months they typically sell out before the end of April.

"They are absolutely delicious and they run out very quickly," she said.

As for how they prepare the food well Brandon explained the fish is deep-fried for a few minutes and then is ready to eat.

There are seven Wienerschnitzel locations in the Fresno area. The meals start at $4.59 for the small.
